Every holiday movie has their stereotypical cliche and seems to be over the top with the Christmas spirit, but one thing all of them have in common is the feeling of joy and happiness a viewer receives that can only be fulfilled during the holidays.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie because it has a deeper meaning to typical Christmas. It also portrays a perspective of how other people can negatively view Christmas. My favorite character from this movie is Cindy Lou Who because she is always positive, she finds the best in people, and stands for what she believes,” Allie Centerino (12) said.

While some enjoy movies with morals that have a deeper meaning than gifts, some Christmas movies are just lighthearted and funny.

“My favorite Christmas movie is Christmas with the Kranks because it is a good movie to have in the background while doing homework in December, or putting up the Christmas tree, also Mr. Krank is my favorite because he is outrageous and never fails to make me laugh when I watch,” Sophie Tempel (11) said.

Other movies are  lighthearted and classic movies that have been around, and fun for the family to watch.

Home Alone is my favorite because it’s exciting and it’s funny and I watch it every year at the beginning of December. Also, when I was younger I thought it was the coolest movie ever, and thought it was so cool at the beginning when the boy was left with the whole house to himself,” Trent Grempler (10) said.

Also, some Christmas movies just prove there can be love even with the struggles and stress of the holidays.

White Christmas with Bing Crosby is my favorite, it’s an oldie but a goody. I’ve been watching it for years and it never fails to get me in the holiday spirit. It’s corny, but I love it. It starts off with boy meets girl, loses girl, and then gets girl back and everyone ends up happy. It’s basically a love story with a beautiful, happy Christmas setting,” Pam Mason (Assistant Principal) said.

Whether the choice is  the love story, the quirky fun movie, or just a movie to get you in the mood for the holidays all of these make one appreciate what they have and help get the holiday spirits flowing.
