Irvin, Franklin & Cochran Proud to Serve at LHS

Most students know about the new administration at Lindbergh: Class of 2018 assistant principal Matthew Irvin, Class of 2017 assistant principal Michael Franklin, and school principal Eric Cochran. However, these students may not really know them. These three “new faces” have varying backgrounds in their field, but they all agree that Lindbergh is an amazing environment for students and teachers alike.

Irvin is new to Lindbergh, having worked at New Trier High School in Chicago, MICDS and, most recently, Kirkwood High School after graduating from St. Charles West High School. He has been a teacher and football coach but also has administrative experience.

Meanwhile, although Franklin has never worked for Lindbergh, he has 15 years of experience in education in Oceanside, California, as well as at Valley Park High School and Warrenton High School. In fact, he is a Lindbergh alum, having graduated as part of the Class of 1992. Since he has an extensive background in education, he doesn’t feel worried about the new job – but there is one thing that freaks him out.

“[I’m] working beside some of the teachers who taught me. That’s a little weird,” Franklin said.

Finally, Cochran attended the small Hancock High School and has been a member of the Lindbergh family as a social studies teacher and, later, an administrator since he finished college.

“Lindbergh is my home. While I didn’t grow up in or attend the district, I got my first job here right out of college. I was immediately taken with the quality of the people in the community,” Cochran said.

That’s what these three new administrators love best about Lindbergh: the people.

“I have always considered this place to be my second family. Some of the best people I have ever known have been employees, parents, or students of this district. Much of my job is easy because of how many great people we have here. I truly believe we have some of the best teachers I have ever seen throughout my years working in a school,” Cochran said.

It’s clear that Irvin, Franklin, and Cochran are loving their new positions at Lindbergh, no matter how much experience they have in the district.
“I am proud to be an alum, but I’m even more proud to be an employee of one of the best high schools in the country,” Franklin said.
